Besides music accent, you can visit music schools like Yamaha,Oasis,etc. Try asking if they got sell metronomes at reasonable prices.

Just in case you didn't hear Ms Yiew's announcement earlier on,
here's a list of things to take note of:
1. Band Uniform (pants for all, including girls)
2. Band tee (or any other black tee)
3. Black socks (no ankle socks)
4. Black shoes
5. Badges (if you have any)
6. For girls with long hair, NO fringes. Muahahahahha!

Hey peeps, i guessed most of the band members have recieved the results for nbc.
We got a mid-silver of 75%, and 5% more to a gold!
Next will be the SIBF competition.
It will be much more stricter than NBC.
You can visit their website for more info.
To get a silver,you will need 80% and above. So must jiayou liaooo!
1 week of practice can make a difference, LET'S CHIONG!

HEY!

Members involving in 45th anniversary will be released from class at 2.45pm @ monday 28June10.
All band members are to report to the music room at 2.45pm!
Warm-up will start at 2.55pm,3.15pm move to parade & rehearsal officially starts at 330pm.
And those people who did not get the accessories for their band uniform,
they are required to bring full uni(Top+bottom) on monday.
The rest just bring your pants. Thankyou

Sorry for not updating always, but now i'm looking for people who are willing to volunteer to help to post updates of the band always. If you're willing to, pls look for me and i'll pass you the user/pw. Of course, i will continue to update everyone on the impt events. (:

Ystd Mr Surapol, one of the best conductor in Asia came to had a workshop with us with his band from Thailand. I hope that everyone of you have learned something from his band members. And i guess everyone of us was very amazed when they played Alvamar Overture because they could play it so well when its just sight-reading. So, we must work even harder to be even better! I believe that we can do it. Just no more slacking, and be serious so we'll move a step up towards our goal. Hope that we can have more workshops like this! :)

Updates on upcoming events:
The Philharmonic Winds Concert featuring Guest Band: Nontri Orchestra Winds (Mr Surapol's band) on the 6th Dec, 7.30 pm at Esplanade. Members who've ordered your tickets, please meet me at the Esplanade at 6.45pm sharp. I will send msg to all section leaders to pass down this msg. Spread it too! Tyvm:) More details @ Sgbandfusion

Wow.. It's been ages since I did a little something to this blog.
And now, it looks to be un-updated. Lol.
Every now and then the blog should be having a new post. Since the teachers told the majors to use the relay system to contact everyone,(Not that it's not good) well.. The blog would be lonely.
So this Ol' Frog has to do something to the blog.

So, how's everyone doing? We seniors have long stepped down but some of us(honestly speaking) felt we're still in the band. Why? Because, we care, love and.. lived through with the band.
In band, it's not all about playing the taugehs on the sheet music, or worse, noise.
It's all about playing music with your passion. Your feelings. I don't want to compare GSB with other bands. It's your attitude towards band.
Me, I'm really jealous you all get to play Alvamar Overture as a band. But, I'm also impressed with all of you playing Grade 4 music. Congrats to GSB and Mr Louis Yeo. Haha..

New info. This saturday: 5 December, there will be a concert at Ai Tong Primary Sch. Some of us(Me, Hillary, Vanny, Zub, Hakim) will be performing.
It's going to be a performance to rememver coz we'll be playin songs such as Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and I tell you this song is the greatest.
How to get there? Bishan Mrt. Take bus 52 from the interchange. 9 stops.(Or u should see the sch)
Tickets ask from any of us. It's free admission.

Dear band members!
Band practice will resume next Thursday (15/10), which is also the last day of your EOY. Most of you might be very tired after papers, but nevertheless we shall work hard for Spectrum 4! There would be a Rehearsal on 20 Oct (Tues), Full-dress rehearsal on 22 Oct (Thurs) and Actual Day on 23rd. Please cooperate and do come for band practices as we are only left with just a few practices before we perform. Work hard everyone! Thursday's timing would be re-confirm again! :)

I swear Band Night was indeed a success one... The music Pirate played was not as good as the past… (In my opinion) But no doubts, you guy did improve & the others music was nice.. (I know is obvious la) I was pretty amazing by the wearing of hat while you guys played the Pirate. I can’t picture myself wearing the hats if I was there performing…

I was shocked with the first performance when percussion starts jamming and shouting GREENRIDGE. I swear I was laughing at that point of time... Fyi, everyone around me laughed. Again, I really can’t picture myself shouting greenridge while clapping when such a big audiences were laughing at me.

And I am so jealous when Mr Yeo promised to buy ice cream for you guy. *hint Mr Yeo*

Hi band members. Just a few updates on the current events this Sept '09.

Sept Holidays Practices
Monday, 7 Sept - 1pm to 5pm (Music Room)
Tuesday, 8 Sept - 1pm to 4pm (Music Room), 4pm to 6pm (West Coast Bonding Session)
Friday, 11 Sept - 3pm to 6pm (Music Room)

If you're going overseas and not attending these practices, please make a photocopy of your passport for verification and hand it in to the teachers the next band practice when school re-opens or when you're back.

There'll also be a very special evening for the band on the 18th Sept (Fri)!
And it will be our very own Music Night by us! Seniors and others, pls support us by coming to this event! Time will be confirm asap and i'll update the details once again :)

Upcoming Workshop @ ACS (Anglo Chinese School - Independent)

Date: 29th August 2009 (Saturday)
Venue: Anglo Chinese School Independent
Time to report: 07 15 AM in school (Transport would be provided)
Attire: Band T-shirt with School skirt/shorts with school shoes. (Inappropriate attire is NOT allowed, strictly no fanciful shorts, slippers or others except what is listed)

Please note that you'll have to report in school at 7 15AM sharp, settle down, set up your instruments and get ready to go. Departing time from school is 8am. Pls do not be late! For this workshop, no instruments would be provided except for the Percussion Section. Each member are required to bring a foldable stand EACH for this workshop.

NOTE TO ALL QMs: Please report to the band room on Friday afternoon to count the foldable stands that are usable and give the number to me by Friday itself.

For ystd's band practice (17/08)
Mr Yeo commented that the band's discipline is getting from bad to worse and therefore we need to change for the better by this year! Section leaders, pls ensure that during sectionals, everyone is practicing and not slacking. All of you have to practice parts which you don't know and do not only practice parts which you know. PLEASE PRACTICE WITH A METRONOME EVERY TIME. And everyone is to get yourself a personal metronome! Please save up your pocket money to get a metronome for yourself ASAP! There will also be a performance coming up next week for our weekly assembly in school. Please do your best and stop slacking during practices!

For Clarinet, Saxophone section leader: Please ensure that everyone in your section has a minimum of 4 reeds each. Please take down the number of reeds you need and pass it to me by this Friday. Of course we do not wish to see what happened ystd about the last reed of one of the Saxophone player.

Percussion section leader: Please give me the allocation of instruments to everybody for the pieces of music that we're playing now by this Friday also.

FYI, THERE WOULD BE NO BAND PRACTICE THIS THURSDAY BECAUSE OF YOUR COMMON TEST. PLEASE STUDY FOR YOUR COMMON TEST TOO!

It has been a month since someone posted, so these are the updates recently:)
Band practices resumed last Monday, and we'll be getting the June Holiday Practice Schedule tomorrow and i'll update it on this blog. Besides this, Band camp '09 is postponed to the 18th to 20th June, which is on the 3rd week.

And to all Sec 4s and above seniors, please inform me for the time slot that you want for the ORD/ROD Night in the camp. You can inform Rosalind too and she'll inform me. Kindly tell me what are the things you need! And the venue will be ARTSHUB. Laptop can be provided (If teacher allows) to present slides/videos to the other fellow band members.

Lastly, Juniors (Sec 3s and Below). If you want to share something, you can book a slot from me too. But the 1st priority will be given to all Sec 4s and above, so i apologise if all slots are taken.

Isn't heartening to see the band bond that well?

Pretty much have done/said. Today 24april'09 senior from 4E,4T and 5A officially step down. Is sad but life still goes on. Junior! The band is all yours now. Function it well and do we(senior) proud. Nothing much for me to say because ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

Thanks Mr.Yeo for his patient guidance. Lady teachers for supporting us till now without complaining. And not to forget Mr.koh who always there for us.

Mr.koh if you are here to view our blog. Don't leave the band! The band needs you for further guidance. Even though most of the time you are absent physically but mentally you are always there for us, right? (:

Hello GSB! How's life after the SYF? I know it's kind of difficult to get over the Bronze medal we get but our mistakes made can be looked into and be fixed. Sooner or later, we seniors are going to step down(SOBS!) and you people hav to pull yourself toghether to maintain the standards or better, improve and increase the standard. Nothing is easy after we step down as you are all on your own, no seniors to back you up to your mistakes.

Anyways, I have changed the Music of the blog. The songs have a total of 25 songs. All of them sure to be great for anyone to listen. You can also see the same thing in my blog(Although there is not much postings). If there is any problems with the music when playing, or if the song you want is not there, please voice it out at the tagboard. I will try to fix the problems or add new songs to it.

Hello Greenridge Bandholics.
Yes, we got BRONZE for SYF of the Year 2009.
It's okay, and we nearly got Silver, and we knew it.
How we know? That's the questions.
Mr Koh, Teachers, Our Friends and especially your Alumnis,
They gave that encouragement and hoping to get Silver.
And they still supporting us along the way, not only us, but also the other 3 performing arts which are Dance, Choir & Drama.
Let's PRAY damn hard that they will achieve higher than us so that we won't let Performing Arts Group DOWN.

But I'm happy that we accept this fact of getting the medal that we are now.
Thanks to other Bands who encourage us not to be over upset.
We're also upset to those bands who are very good but they've dropped down.
And heard by fellow band members worrying over our neighbouring bands like Dunearn & Ngee Ann.
Or especially those who we went exchange programme with them before, like Woodlands Ring, Teck whye, Queenstown, Jurong, Changkat Changi.

Or perhaps to make you distress, Haha.
We also actually don't really love to disappoint you too.
You see, when you're angry, we tried to do best for you, thou you can't really see it, maybe.
When you're sad, the naughty ones tried to cheer you up as we can thou we're really DAMN heartbroken.
Well, yeah. All we can say that, thanks for being there for us, REALLY.
You can see that we all change it's because of YOU.
If you're not with us, we wouldn't have been a better band as expected.
We also somehow appreciate things secretly, we very paiseh to show our love, I mean some lah. HAHA LOL. xD
Day by day, so many band members as heard by my pair of ears, they're so concerned about band, and pushing efforts just for you and teachers.

Band members, just to clarify the issue of the stands.

Firstly, Juniors who are using the black stands (not the foldable ones), kindly hand yr stands to any librarian (Zhao Zu, Hui Hui, Mark, Hedy or Yit Yun). Yes, i know it might be from yr senior that left the band but this is just temporarily. We will confirm who will be getting the stands once Mr Yeo announce who will be selected for Syf 2009.

Secondly, Please make sure that all of you have your own file and scores (Cantus and Overture No. 1). All to have it by this Saturday (7 March 09).

Thirdly, stands that are drawn with correction fluid or markers will be erased by us. Only your name and section is allowed to be on the stand, nothing else. (People who have pasted the stickers on your stands a long time ago, it is ok)

Lastly, nobody is to share a stand among 2 or 3. We should have enough stands for all, and we are doing this to train everyone to be used to be having a stand, so when there's performance, nothing will go wrong and there would not be issues of people not having stands.

As for the juniors, we will give you a white sticker and you will write your section's name to prevent missing stands or issues like other sections taking your stands. Thanks a lot.

The tag board is free for all to tagg and can be used to say "Hello" or "hiya I'm ___ from ____ Sec Sch" or inspirational words.

And yes! We went for an Exchange Programme at Pasir Ris Sec! :D
We did well as said by teachers, but still we have to do even more better as unexpected! :D
Other bands did a very good play too! VERY NICE! *claps*

But now, I will ask you.
What do you learn today during the exchange?
Yes, we learn how we articulate our notes properly somehow.
Hmmm, alot of things to say.
But thanks ah. -.- Mr Tan, our ex-conductor for giving us the comments and advices? Hm yeahhhh. :)
Somehow we must learn not to look down on others.
We did equally good because of our high spirits, but not enough as some of us thinks.
But its okay! As long our spirit is high, we can do it. :D
And we must learn how to build confidence during our solos or tempos.
Pretend that the exchange is nothing great to see who's best or who feared, its best for what we've learn from each other.
Trust me that as we learn, we're no longer afraid, because we believe in miracles or faith. :)
Okay luh, don't know how to explain, my english nowadays very poor, hah. ):
But whatever you guys learn your weaknesses today, train your weaknesses to something that you won't think negative (as you know, compare sounds), and you never know you did better. Same goes to other bands. :)

Heya Band peeps!!
The Band blog seem dead cause poor Vanny is too busy with other things..
Maybe the thought of updating the band blog seem to slip past her mind..
Well I don't really know what's on her mind.
I'm just making this blog ALIVE!

For those who haven't get "Hong Baos" from Mr Yeo last Thursday's band practice,
Well maybe too bad. I was giving out the "Hong Baos" frantically.
If those who haven't get want to figure out what's inside, go figure!
Haha.

And hey you band peeps out there. Especially the sec 3s, if you want to be somebody,
Well I mean a Drum Major or a Quartermaster, then start changing your behavior!
Ask Me! or Hillary! or Hidayah! Or just observe them what qualities they have that the teachers chose them.

My story was different, though. I thought Hafiz was going to be the DM.
Things turn out different. There will always be some few unhappy with the Teacher's choice. Honestly, its difficult for them to choose.

Criteria/Qualities to being a DM/BM/QM etc:
RESPECT!
Co-operation! (Cooperate well!)
Attitude towards Band! (I mean relly Passionate and Enthu!)
Your instrument and music skills!
The LOVE for Band! (Its something far more than passionate n' Enthu)

Remember these well big dreamers!
Someday you will be someone respectable just like me or Hillary!
You will be under much stress as well as the Respect earned!

Also, to all band members, Congratulations on participating for SYF 2009!
But don't celebrate just yet, SYF not yet over.
Everyonne please AIM FOR GOLD!
You can aim for gold but, its your attitude to practicing!
You want Gold, behave like a Gold band.
Same goes for Gold with Honours too.

As for those who didn't get a chance yet, please don't give up all hope!
You still have a chance to work Triple Hard! If not a MILLION times hard!
Don't just work solely on just Cantus Jubilante or Overture No.1, work on both!
When in doubt, ASK! (same as "Don't know, ASK!")
As I said, the more, the merrier. BUT, its Quality that counts! Not too much on quantity!

Okay, here are the details for the band camp.
Only for those who don't have the paper yeah?

1. Reporting time on 20th November (Thursday) at 7.15am
2. Breakfast will no be provided on the first day of camp. Please take heavy meal on this day before you report to school!
3. Attire on the first day of camp: PE T-shirt (school T-shirt/band T-shirt/class T-shirt) with school PE shorts.
4. Venue for reporting at Foyer!
REQUIRED NOTICE/ADVICE! - Wear Band T-shirt on last day on camp at ECP!

Packing List
Attire:
- T-shirts: Class T-shirt/PE T-shirt/Jersey w/School Shirts (At least 4)
- Shorts/PE shorts (no short shorts/mini skirt e.g FBT) (At least 4)
- School uniform (A least 1 pair)
- Dark coloured shirts (In need for water games or last day) (At least 2)
- Undergarments (Your choice of quantity)

Footwear:
- Slippers/Sandals (At least 1 pair or your choice)

Miscellaneuous Items:
- Water bottle (Try to bring a big bottle)
- Sleeping Bag/Sleeping Mat

our majors for 2008-2009! :D

This Passing-Out Parade (POP) started yesterday, sorry for the late post!
Yeah, it was totally awesome about the POP.
Most of the band and drum mjors did very well too, not only our school drum and band majors! (:

What did Hillary did?
Supposedly to take drum major course.
Though she's good at memorising the rhythm of musics, instead of that course she supposed to take, she took band major course! Hopefully I'm right about it, LOL. xD
She and the other band majors were happily enjoying themselves with Mr Leonard Tan who is conducting the band majors, so yeah, hahahas!
Hillary played YMCA and other songs which we enjoyed, especially the honour of playing that Parade song thingy which normally played during national day. >.<
One of the songs sounded like Happy Wanderer btw. :X

What did Hidayah did?
Ok, she did the drum major course.
She was damn tired and tanned alot! LOL. :X
She did abit of stuns with the mace, hahaha. Mace damn heavy worhs! LOL.
Hahahaha, then when we saw Hidayah marched out the parade, she was very tired.
Carmen cheered for her, she almost wanted to laugh in the squad, HAHA. :X
Hahahaha, we saw her lips very paled, damn concerned about her! hahaha.
Same goes to Hillary, tired. eh! But both have grown taller. awww -shrinks. xD

Hahahas, let's clap for hidayah and hillary! :D
For going through the fun of NCO camp for the whole week.

Dear band members, on saturday morning [08/12/2007] the band ex-co had a mtg with Mr Koh. Mr koh wants us to convey his msg to the whole band.

Ofically from this year 1/12/07,Mr Koh will be our Teacher-in-charge. He wants the band to have more self-discipline. So if anyone who is not able to make it for the next band practice on 17/12/07, you will have to report to your Section Leaders. He has mentioned that he DON'T reason like you are going shopping with your parents or anything like this. If you are leaving the country, you will have to photocopy your passport as evidence.

So if anyone is unable to make it for any band practices in future,pls inform your Section Leader beforehand. Anyone who missed band practice WITHOUT valid reason will be dealed SEVERLY by Mr Koh. So lets all work hard to make our band a better band. Thank you...
